Our Software Licensing Team are constantly changing how to acquire and administer their volume software licenses, as well as how to go about upgrading to the latest version of their products. To answer your questions and provide you with the best possible service, here are the details on how each of our partners administer and manage their agreements.
— Program Details —
The Transactional License Program (TLP) gives small to large organizations the freedom to mix and match Adobe products in a single, cost-effective transaction. Even with as few as 10 workstations, corporate, government, education, and small-business customers are eligible to participate in volume licensing. The TLP covers most Adobe products and is available worldwide. There are no contracts to sign or records to keep, and your organization doesn't have to worry about predicting its future software needs. The TLP evaluates each transaction individually, applying the volume discount appropriate to the size of the transaction.
  — Requirements —
A minimum of 20 points must be accrued in a single transaction. Each Adobe product is worth one or two points, whether acquiring a new license, upgrading an older version, or obtaining maintenance for a current version of a previously licensed application.

TLP offers the convenience of an easy-to-understand point-based license program. No contracts are needed. Customers can mix and match products.

  As a worldwide program, TLP licenses are processed electronically and can be viewed online.
  — Pricing —
Corporate customers receive savings from 5 percent to 80 percent off ESP. Government customers receive savings of at least 25 percent off ESP over corporate pricing (depending on product and level). Savings are offered at each tier of pricing.
  When you place an order for a large number of licenses, your point total increases and your discount can increase. However, these point totals are not cumulative. For example, if you place an order at a given level and you have a second order worth 20 points, you would only qualify for level-A pricing on the second order.
  — How to Qualify —
All Adobe TLP orders must qualify with a minimum of 20 points. This is a transactional program, so reorders do not qualify. If you have significant software requirements, you can receive volume discounts without committing to a forecast quantity.
  — Deliverables —
The end user will receive an electronic certificate confirming purchase of software licenses. Software can be obtained in a variety of ways including:
 
  • Purchase of a shrink-wrap product
  • Purchase of a media kit
  • Duplication of existing media
  • Duplication of existing media provided by a reseller
  — Maintenance —
Maintenance provides protection against frequent version upgrades and carries the same point value as the full or upgrade license in the program. Maintenance is available to TLP customers for new product purchases and existing installations, including shrink-wrap versions.

  Organizations purchasing CLP Freedom licenses are entitled to cumulative discounts. The minimum qualifying size of an organization is 100 licensed workstations.

  Organizations purchasing CLP Universal licenses are entitled to four cumulative, suggested discount levels from CLP Universal authorized resellers. To determine the discount level to which your organization is entitled, multiply the point value of the licenses and/or maintenance purchased by the number of licenses and/or maintenance.

  — Maintenance —
Corel Maintenance provides protection against frequent upgrades and includes standard technical support. Enhanced technical support may be purchased separately. Corel maintenance is available for periods of one or two years for the Freedom and Universal plans. It can be included in the license price or as a separate purchase.
  — Ordering Information —
The Corel License Program gives a customer the right to copy products purchased through Corel License Program and includes the following information: license certificate number, specific products licensed, product serial numbers, detailed customer information, and program date. The license certificate number is unique to each customer but is not required during the reorder process.

Base Volume License Option (BVLO)
High Volume License Option (HVLO)
Description The Base Volume License Option (BVLO) is intended for smaller, regional volume customers.
This regional, points-based, commercial option provides a low point of entry with one level of discount, making it easier than ever for customers to qualify for volume licensing.
Customers of ANY size can purchase through the BVLO within their region by placing an order between 10 and 99 points.
The High Volume License Option (HVLO) is intended for mid to enterprise level customers.
This worldwide, points-based, commercial option provides six levels of discount, rewarding customers for larger purchases. The HVLO allows multinational customers to purchase licenses at one volume purchase level worldwide, rather than having to qualify regionally.
Availability BVLO customers can purchase within their region with a vaild membership number with no contract required. Customers in Asia Pacific purchasing both commercial and education products must qualify separately.The BVLO does not provide global purchase benefits. HVLO commercial customers may benefit from worldwide HVLO levels of discount with a vaild membership number with no contract required. For example a customer who qualifies for Level D in Europe would also qualify for Level D in the United States. Customers in Asia Pacific purchasing both commercial and education products must qualify separately.
Product Point Assignments Our award-winning products, subscriptions, technical support and training offerings have been assigned points. These points, multiplied by the quantity purchased, yields total points on an initial order - placing a customer into a particular level of discount.
Program Levels The following point break has been established for BVLO. A point break is the number of points you need in order to enter a given program level.

Discounts by Level Discount curves vary by product and by region. Discounts may increase by level (Level C discount is typically higher than Level B discount, etc). However, there are some products where the same discount is in place across all the levels. Technical Support, for example, has the same price across all levels.
Order Minumum There is a 10-point minimum to qualify for BVLO There is a 100-point minimum to qualify for Level B of the HVL0
Reorder Minimum 0 points for reorders with a valid membership number 0 points for reorders with a qualifying membership number
Volume Purchase Level Under both options, the total points on a customer’s initial order determine the volume purchase level for a two-year period. Customers purchasing both commercial and education products must qualify for separate volume purchase levels. For example, if a customer has a commercial HVLO membership at volume purchase level D, they would not be allowed to buy education product using the same membership. In this case, the customer should place a separate 500 point education order to obtain level D education pricing.
Advancing to the Next Level If a BVLO customer places one unique purchase order that would qualify for a higher level, the higher level is honored for an additional two-year period. If an HVLO customer places one unique purchase order that would qualify for a higher level, the higher level is honored for an additional two-year period.
Affiliate Enrollment Affiliate Enrollment is not offered within the BVLO. HVLO customers can also enroll their qualified Affiliates under their HVLO membership. Affiliates of a company may purchase under a parent company's MVLP membership provided that the Affiliate meets the following definition, “An ‘Affiliate’ shall mean a corporation, partnership or venture, in which End User owns at least 50% or more of the outstanding common stock or voting interest of such entity.”

HVLO customers must complete the attached Affiliate Enrollment form and attach it with a qualifying Purchase Order for an Affiliate purchase.
Software Subscriptions Macromedia offers software subscription for purchases made by BVLO and HVLO customers. The software subscription offering entitles the customer to free version upgrades (for example, an upgrade from version 4.0 to 5.0), updates (for example, from 5.1 to 5.3) and bug fixes during the active subscription period. A software subscription period is two years.

Some important notes on software subscriptions:
 
  • Customer subscription coverage begins with the initial product purchase date and expires on the last day of the month after the two-year anniversary date
  • The purchase of a subscription is optional
  • If a subscription is purchased, it must be purchased with the license
  • Subscription renewals can be purchased up to 90 days prior to the subscription expiration date. Customers will be advised of their renewal opportunities well in advance of the subscription expiration

  • Only software upgrades for the products covered by software subscription are included, no additional software such as DevNet Resource Kits are included

Deliverables One of the primary benefits of licensing is that customers receive the right mix of media. For example: a customer initially ordering 100 licenses of Dreamweaver will automatically receive:
  • The MVLP License Certificate to include:
    — A unique program membership number
    — “Right to copy” licenses in accordance with the license purchase
    — One multi-user serial number per product family also in accordance with the license purchase.

  • Software (one CD at no charge)
note: One software CD per product is provided at no charge, customers may still be charged the appropriate freight fee. Customers may purchase documentation or additional CDs for a nominal fee at quantities not to exceed the number of licenses purchased. Documentation will not be shipped unless specifically ordered since all documents are available on the software CD.
Procurement Customers may purchase through our Software Licensing Team. All end user information, including the end user deployment email address, must be included on the purchase order to be submitted to Macromedia.
Education VLO Eligibility Requirements All bona fide educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities and other tertiary institutions either state or privately owned, pursuing non-profit making objectives that are purely educational in nature are eligible. In cases of doubt, please consult Macromedia. This program provides a license to an educational institution and not to any individual. However, a person who is an eligible member of the institution can use the software as an end-user. An eligible member is a registered student, faculty and staff or contractor to the institution.

NAI Multi-Node License Packs
NAI now offers Multi-Node License packs to replace all licensing sales of less than 250 nodes. Multi-Node License packs are pre-configured solutions you can ship immediately without needing end-user information.
In addition to the media product, each pack contains a customer registration card, license agreement, and documentation. Combine boxes to complete middle- and high-node count sales. (Example: 25 "X" nodes + 50 "Y" nodes = 75-node sale). SMB customers will benefit from quick, hassle-free sales with easy reporting.

  What is the difference between a Subscription License and a Perpetual License?
McAfee Subscription Licenses enable customers to use the specified software for a time-limited period, usually two years. Effective March 1, 2001, 2:1:1 Subscriptions for TSP Licensing and 2:2 Licenses for Multinodes are available
 
  • 2:1:1 Subscription - two-year software use term plus one year PrimeSupport KnowledgeCenter
  • 2:2 Subscription - two-year software use term plus two years PrimeSupport KnowledgeCenter
  McAfee Perpetual Licenses enable customers to install and own a particular version of the software forever:
 
  • Perpetual - Unlimited software use term plus one (first) year PrimeSupport Connect.
  Customers may continue to maintain the software at the latest version so long as a PrimeSupport agreement is in force. Additional PrimeSupport agreements are available for subscription and perpetual customers.
  Why are both types offered?
Both types are offered to provide flexibility. In general terms the Total Cost of Ownership (TXO) for Perpetual licensing is lower over the long term (three years +) than it is for a subscription.
  How long is a Subscription License valid?
Two years.
  What support is included with Subscription Licenses?
All 2:1:1 Subscription Licenses include one-year PrimeSupport KnowledgeCenter, which enables customers to access all product maintenance services. Additional one-year Prime Support agreements are available for both the first and second years. All 2:2 Multinode Packs include two years PrimeSupport KnowledgeCenter.
  What support is included with a McAfee Perpetual License?
Effective January 2001, McAfee includes a 12-month PrimeSupport Connect service for all new perpetual license sales. PrimeSupport Connect entitles the customer to online access for all product maintenance services (same as 2:1:1 subscription) plus working hours access to telephone technical support personnel. This service can be renewed annually to ensure software is maintained at the latest released version.
  PrimeSupport periods must join continuously. If a customer chooses to allow PrimeSupport coverage to lapse, then upon rejoining, the period will commence at the date at which the previous PrimeSupport agreement ended. If the lapsed period is longer than 12 months, the customer will be required to purchase a new license agreement.
  How do customers get entitlement to online version upgrades and updates?
The key to online maintenance is PrimeSupport. Every level of PrimeSupport, from KnowledgeCenter through to PrimeSupport Enterprise includes the entitlement to access software downloads.
  For users of 2:1:1 subscription they will need to purchase a PrimeSupport KnowledgeCenter agreement for the second year of their term. KnowledgeCenter is the minimum level of support, and higher versions are available. Perpetual users will need to purchase a new PrimeSupport Connect agreement for the second year. Connect is the minimum level of support available for a perpetual license.
  What is the difference between a Multinode License pack and a TSP License?
The Multinode License pack is priced for a fixed number of subscription or perpetual license users. It includes a registration card for the customer to return so that McAfee can activate support and issue a license grant. Multinode packs are available in configurations of 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 users. A TSP License is ordered with the exact user configuration on a per-node basis, along with the appropriate PrimeSupport service. Customers may order exact node TSP licenses for 51 and above users.
  Do Multinode Packs have volume price breaks in the same way as TSP Licensing?
Yes, for example the price-per-node for a 100-user Multinode Pack is less than the price-per-node of a 25- or 50-user Multinode Pack.
  Why did McAfee introduce a Perpetual Multinode Pack?
Perpetual licenses on TSP Licensing has been available. Effective January 2001 we added 12 months PrimeSupport Connect service to our Perpetual License offering, and created a service-rich bundle which is ideal for the small-to-midsize business customer.

Open Business is a simple, flexible licensing program that provides big savings for customers who purchase multiple copies of Microsoft software. Open Volume is designed for customers who purchase a high volume of Microsoft licenses. Open Volume requires a 500-point minimum buy-in.

Open Academic provides savings for academic customers who purchase multiple copies of Academic Microsoft software. As in Open Business, academic customers begin saving with as few as five licenses and continue to enjoy the same cost-savings for two years. They also can mix and match products to achieve their five-license goal.
  Customers can purchase Upgrade Advantage through Open Business, Open Volume, and Open Academic for version protection. Microsoft offers customers the opportunity to upgrade immediately to the most recent version and to upgrade to any version of that product released during the term of the agreement.

  Note: Open Business, Open Volume, and Open Academic licenses are perpetual. Cost savings begin with the initial order. The Open License Program agreement provides a two-year window for reorders at the same discount level. An authorization number is issued at the time of purchase that indicates the buy-in level, product pool (for Open Volume) and expiration date of the agreement (reorder window). Reorders of Open Business are available with no minimums and are available for any product from the Open License product list. Reorders of Open Volume are available with no minimums for any product from the customers' elected pool.
  — Upgrade Advantage —
Upgrade Advantage is upgrade protection through Open Business, Open Volume, and Open Academic. Flexibility allows end users to enroll in Upgrade Advantage at any time. The Upgrade Advantage license will give customers the right to upgrade to the most current version and permits customers to upgrade to any version of the product released during the term of the agreement. Customers can purchase Upgrade Advantage separately or with their software license purchase and can acquire a copy of the software when the new version is released.   — How OLP Works —
The ScanSoft Open License Program (OLP) uses a point-based system to establish and track discount levels.
Each product included in the OLP is assigned a point value. The more licenses committed to in your initial purchase, the better your discount going forward. For maximum benefit, you'll want to determine your needs for at least the first six months, and purchase accordingly. You must purchase one license for every individual who will be using the software.

  This discount level for the OLP is guaranteed for a two-year period from the initial date of purchase. At the end of one year, however, your organization has the opportunity to move to the next discount level if it has accumulated the necessary points during the first year.
As the program name implies, there are no contracts to sign, or purchase requirements beyond the initial purchase. You simply purchase licenses, as you need them. The minimum reorder is twenty points.

In order to participate in the OLP, your initial order must total a minimum of 50 points. Reorders within the two year period must total a minimum of 20 points.

— Symantec Value License —
The Symantec Value License Program is the fastest, easiest way to license Symantec software through Ingram Micro. This certificate-based program provides attractive volume discounts, minimal paperwork, and a low minimum initial purchase of only 10 units. No legal review or contracts are required; all you need is a purchase order.
  With the Symantec Value License Program, you simply purchase low-cost media pack from Ingram Micro. Symantec supplies a certificate authorizing you to make one copy for each license purchased. It's that simple.

— Why Buy Symantec Licensing? —
Symantec licensing provides maximum flexibility with minimum requirements. There's no authorization process, forecasting, or reporting involved. Automatic software updates are provided via the Internet.
Symantec Value License Program provides significant savings on volume software purchases. Software overhead is kept to a minimum, and there are no shipping costs on the license.
  — How To Qualify —
Solution providers qualify with an initial purchase of 10 licenses. Re-orders must be a minimum of 10 licenses. Once the version changes, you can no longer submit re-orders. The end-user customer must be re-qualified.
  — How To Keep Your License Current —
To be protected with new product versions or definitions, a maintenance agreement must be purchased. Maintenance is a one-year agreement and must be renewed annually. Note: Symantec Antivirus includes one free year of maintenance and technical support.
  You have 60 days to renew your maintenance agreement from the time your original agreement expires. If the license lapses more than 60 days, the customer will need to purchase an upgrade.
  — Pricing And Ordering —
Determine how many users will access the software, then purchase one of the product media packs for resale. A purchase order is required, which includes the end-user's name, address, and telephone number.
  Symantec will then generate a sales order, print the customized license certificate(s), and ship the order to you or your customer. Once the customer receives the certificate, s/he is licensed to duplicate the original software.
  License delivery takes approximately five to seven business days. Please fax or email orders to sales@kalsoftmarketing.com.sg. This email address is checked every day. You will be notified via email that your order has been successfully received. You will also receive a fax confirmation for all of your Symantec orders.
